Bather Course
Old Mill Academy is pleased to offer a PART-TIME Bather Course. This course is designed for anyone who has always wanted to know how to bathe dogs correctly and safely. This course will give you the fundamentals of how to perform a bath on a dog according to its specific requirements, safely and efficiently.

This course will consist of a total of 37.5 hours.

Pricing for this course is $1988 inclusive of any textbooks and tools you may require.

Bather Course Outline
Coat Detection
Breed Detection
Dog Examination
Double Coated versus Groomable Dog Identification
Tools, Equipment Handling, Maintenance & Sanitation
Safety & Sanitation of working area
Bath; Shampooing/Conditioning and Handling plus detection of any skin issues
Brushing (wet & dry)using various types of brushes and combs
Various Blow-Drying Techniques
All above steps will be demonstrated with the safety steps & tools involved to perform each task successfully

'Prep Work' Course
Old Mill Academy is pleased to offer The 'Prep Work' course which is designed for someone who can successfully complete the steps listed in the bather course outline and would like to learn how to safely and successfully complete the next steps in grooming a dog.
This course will teach you fundamental steps and tools involved to successfully perform the post-bath dog grooming requirements prior to pre-clipping and scissoring a dog. You will also learn the art of de-shedding a dog that has more than 1 coat.

This course consists of 4 weeks of full-time practical and theoretical education, 4 days per week for a total of 88 hours.

'Finishing' Course
Old Mill Academy is pleased to offer 'The Finishing' Course. This course is designed for those who have mastered the steps listed above on the Bather and Prep-Work Courses and yearn to learn the next and final steps in dog grooming. Or, someone who wants to refresh their clipping/shaving and cutting skills. This course will teach you the fundamentals of clipping and hair cutting. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to successfully perform a haircut on a dog. You will be shown and taught patterns, and the clipping and scissoring steps and techniques involved to successfully perform a haircut on dogs with 'drop coats' and 'wavy/curly' coats.

This course consists of 4 weeks of full-time practical and theoretical education, 4 days per week for a total of 88 hours.
